We are in the midst of a whirlwind of travel and birthday extravaganza for all four of us (three consecutive days of this week) and I’m again pressed for time and feeling (as always) extremely tired but appreciating it all with a very full heart. We are extremely fortunate to follow up so soon after visiting Luang Prabang with a short road-trip to stunning Vang Vieng last weekend, and now packing to leave in three days to spend Thanksgiving in Hanoi with good friends.
In the rush of things, I didn’t want to leave without at least posting a few shots from the car on the way to Vang Vieng. They say the trip usually takes 4 hours but with my experienced mountain driving husband, we made it along the twisty snaking switchbacks to reach the karst hills and famous Nam Song River in a mere 2.5 hours. The only directions you need for this drive is head north on Rt.13 out of Vientiane.
This is what it looked like along the way…
More pictures of our stay in Vang Vieng coming up next.

beautiful! So glad you guys are having a whirlwind of celebration and travel! Sounds absolutely exhausting but will feel so good to have those memories and experiences once you get to sit down (at some point!) again.
Have a good trip. I love the photo of the boy using the monk’s robe for shade.
That is my favorite photo so far in Laos and I’m lucky that it came out bc I saw them up ahead and had to quickly pull out my camera, turn it on, point and shoot before we passed them.
