The Most Precious Thing Of All

Celebrating four of our birthdays within three days is pretty special. It already amazes me immensely that we’ve all come together into this life with one another, then add to that our consecutive birthdays (15th, 16th, 17th) as if the stars had forever been aligned for that to be so. How do you even begin to celebrate that, to honor that, to cherish that immense awesomeness of fate? I haven’t exactly figured that one out yet but I struggle with it each year. We like to keep things simple and focus on what’s genuinely important, but each year I look back and always feel like I hadn’t done enough. Well, after it was all over, after all the planning and celebrating with colleagues and friends and gifts from family and a romantic dinner out and 50 panda cupcakes and a hello kitty cake and an airplane cake and swim party…

…the most precious thing of all were the hugs M&O received from their friends at school.

What more could you want than these? What more joy and hope and fun and love could you want on your special day, a day when all the world received you into it and life continually welcomes you each and every year that goes by? What more than all the hugs you could possibly get?

Coming up: G’s birthday “Baci” ceremony, M&O birthday snapshots, and a short trip to Hanoi.

You should turn that collage of memories into a framed photo for the wall. Fab!

Oh wow, those hugs!! (And 50 panda cupcakes an airplane cake and a hello kitty cake? Wow) How perfect, you are right, what more could one want? I love all the variety of pre school hugs too! From the lean-as-far-back-as-possible-while-still-nominally-touching-arms to the feet-no-longer-touching-the-ground-ones, all so sweet!

It was so amazing to watch. I wish I had it on video. (And no, I did not make any of those cakes myself!)
