This picture immediately came to mind for this week’s photo challenge topic – friendship. Here, my son is leading his twin sister through a crowd in Princeton, New Jersey. He was so caring and thoughtful despite feeling uncertain and a little bit scared himself, especially when neither my husband nor I were leading in front of them. Often people tell us that twins are sure to become close friends and watching the relationship between my two blossom, I have no doubts.
This post gives me a good opportunity to properly introduce my kids to you more formally than in the occasional photo submitted for challenges. They are known as M&O, with M as my daughter and O as my son, and I refer to my husband as G. I had the unrealistic idea of starting up the kids’ own blog but I’ve had no time to keep up with it (although I love the name “DiploTwins” – will have to do something with that some day). So it’s time to merge my musings about life with kids and traveling with kids into this blog, too. And why not? We are all journeying through this life together, wherever it takes us, and this blog’s imminent future will mostly be about our adventures in Laos anyway.
What better way to introduce M&O than through a reflection upon their friendship…

Oh, I’m tearing up thinking of your sweet children and my own twins! I had two prayers when I found out that I was carrying twins, “Please God, let them be healthy,” and, “Please, God, let them be friends.” They were born very healthy, and they are good and supportive friends.
Thank you for the dear photos and lovely post!
