Life in Laos through the lens of a diplomatic wife raising twin toddlers.

Nam Ngum Lake

Another work trip. This time a two hours drive north of Vientiane City to a big reservoir created by the Nam Ngum dam.  Apparently, there’s a prison on one (or maybe more) of the islands dotting the lake. There are several very basic waterfront ‘resorts’ around the lake and I ended up staying in a small bamboo bungalows with gorgeous views and a lake-side restaurant next to a small fishing village…

(reminded me very much of Freddie’s in Aceh, Indonesia)
